Some late night thoughts while I wait for Wordle to roll over so I can roll over.
We, in team reality (we hope) need to be really careful that we don't become what we oppose. The legacy media, CDC, and FDA have failed to acknowledge data that doesn't match their rosy picture. They go so far as to investigate purveyors of ”disinformation” as potential domestic terrorist and call for silencing.
I'm not deluded, they haven't got a clue who I am. Not because I covered my tracks or anything, but because I'm just way too small to register.
But I've noticed some of the big names getting carried away a bit (in my view). All sudden deaths are caused by the vaccines for instance. It is starting to strike me as ghoulish in the way that editorials were written saying it was time to cheer the deaths of the Unvaccinated. This not only does not become us, it stinks of legacy media and bad MMWR data cherry picking. It could be right, but it doesn't matter, it's still the wrong thing to do.
We need to acknowledge that sometimes they are going to say or do right things. I mean they have to stumble on a right thing at some point. We cannot simply discard news which opposes our views without good cause. Sure the CDC likes to put our awful papers with clear and obvious flaws. We can and should point those out. But we need to be careful to always keep a critical eye out. Not just for data from the establishment, but against our own bias and desire to dismiss data which conflicts with our beliefs. Otherwise we become like Mayor Adams, masking only toddlers because there isn't another city like NYC.
It is still possible the next variant will be really deadly. That the calculus will change. We've seen Omicron emerge from nowhere, highly distant from Delta, and take over. In this case it was too our benefit, but if vaccines do prevent hospitalization and death, then they could allow much more virulent strain to spread rapidly only killing the unprotected. Apply the 72+ hour rule to be Covid information in your own head. Make sure you understand it before you dismiss it or spread it.
I agree with your overall concern, and I don't think it's a good idea to over-sell the problems. But at the same time I can see how this arises. When the entire establishment is gaslighting you and censoring you, and their approach is clearly doing vast harm, and nobody will listen... it's really hard to stay on the path. There is a level of exhaustion, and every new data point (well almost every new data point) moves the dissident position farther from the establishment. The censorship and gaslighting eliminates the feedback loop, so this divergence is largely open loop, and therefore tends to leave the realm of control. I think what you're describing is even worse - a positive feedback loop in which there's a tendency to simply default to the opposite of whatever the establishment says, because past experience shows they usually can't be trusted, and the easy slip into confirmation bias because well, it's probably largely true and the data to prove or disprove it is corrupted or pointedly missing.
Suppressing IVM? Why would they do that unless it actually worked. And, well probably it does, at least sometimes.
This is why while I agree with you about the importance of trying to avoid this situation, I see it as somewhat of an inevitable outcome of the ongoing demolition of science as the perpetrators double down again and again and the establishment cogs (most "scientists", academics, and doctors) remain cowardly silent. (I can see why they remain silent, but that doesn't make it right.. and they bear significant responsibility for this situation.)
This is driving me mad, and I'm just an anonymous internet poster! How much worse would it be for me if I were personally having my life destroyed and my personal experiences and ability to help others nullified?
I wonder what else I can do to share in their burden.
Very good advise. It is so easy to point the finger, once the jabbed pointed at us, so remember how it feels to be the despised one, so we do not fall into the same trap. I still have a few of mainline news feeds, read their titles, and indeed, now and then I do see a lamp light up in their heads, only to be put out a few minutes later LOL. I also take the warnings of some people serious, stock up on certain food the store might run out (so far so good) and buy ivermectin (was easy, and becoming easier because several states already set it free). And I have a drawer full of herbal and homeopathic stuff, so we will be good.
One former friend reached out a few months ago because she had migraine and a seizure (might or might not be jab related) and I agreed to take her along, and lo and behold, yesterday my other former best friend called during the storm because she heard sirens in my direction.... I must still be human after all. Good to know ! My dog and cats never forgot, though.
Agreed, well put and wise. All the info should be for all humanity's sake and unbiased, ethical reporting done with integrity should be paramount when presenting information.

Fully agreed. Every word of it.
